Best Goku Ever
By Brian M.
S.H.Figuarts has done it again with this San Diego Comic Con 2011 exclusive Super Saiyan Son Goku figure. What makes this figure different, you ask? The paint job on this figure is a much more bold scheme. The original SSJ Goku had a much more muted color scheme, whereas this Goku is sporting a much more vivid paint job.
The poseability and articulation of this figure are on par with the greatest ever. The S.H.Figuarts line does a magnificent job of capturing the look and feel of Dragon Ball Z with these figures, and with the multiple faces and hands, you are able to pose Goku in essentially any way you can think of.
I have no real qualms with this figure other than the stray dot of paint here and there, but it is barely noticeable and of course doesn't detract from the enjoyment of this figure at all. Many people have cited the back of Goku's knees as a problematic area for them. There are fairly large portions of the backs of Goku's knees that are concave in order to allow for maximum movement in the legs. I simply don't mind it, but I could see why it might miff people.
The biggest purchasing detractor for this figure is going to price. You basically have to ask yourself if you're willing to dish out the dough for this figure, and because I have been a Dragon Ball/DBZ fan since I was 10 years old (That's 16 years ago for those counting) it was a no-brainer.
Now, I look at this figure on display and I can't help but smile, it is simply awesome.

since getting the original is (strangely)now a death wish for my wallet...

I have decided to get the comic-con one...which btw turned out to be the best choice, since the color scheme(at the exception of the belt and wrist band being purple) is more vivid, and anime-accurate then its counter-part who sports the faded manga colors...this is my fifth dragon ball toy,but when i'm comparing it to earlier toys back in the late 90s and early 00s,this has to be the most show accurate fully articulated SSJ Goku i've seen so far. Poseability-wise,well it is no Revoltech, but it has a good amount of articulation. It comes with two extra sets of hands(Kamehameha,ki blast),the iconic instant transmission hand and a screaming face(which btw is very well sculpted.).the only downside would be the lack of an energy beam, ball,or blast. That would've make it look a bit better when ur comparing it to the army of accessories that comes with SSJ Gohan,Piccolo and Future Trunks(i know that this one will be gone as soon as it comes out)....BUT AN EXCELLENT FIGURE NONETHELESS! highly recommend it to any DBZ fan!
