Great For Star Wars and Monopoly Fans

This is a beautifully set up Monopoly game with Star Wars references replacing Monopoly ones. The only classic Monopoly references left are in the four corners of the board: Go To Jail, Free Parking, Go, and Jail. And honestly, they do look quite a bit incongruous but I believe that is the way with all Monopoly special editions.

The pewter tokens are quite nice. And instead of houses, you build colonies. The colonies can be rebel (have an X-wing on them) or Imperial (have tie-fighters on them). Instead of hotels, you put Corellian Cruisers or Star Destroyers. I played a game with my 7 year old and she used a Darth Vader token so she had Imperial houses. I had Leia and had Rebel houses. The Imperial houses are a dark grey and the rebel houses a light grey. Goes with the theme well.

Instead of Chance and Community Chest, you have Imperial and Rebel Alliance cards. Each of those cards changes the original Monopoly sayings into references either Imperial or Rebel. Instead of house tax, for example, you have to buy a droid for every house you own and the cost is 25. Or you may have to pay 50 credits when you are elected Grand Moff. Money units are imperial credits and in suitable Star Wars languages - there's a decoder on the back of the instructions. It also comes with 6 coins to trade 2 500s for - something my 7 year old strives for in every game.

Other than the great (and cute) Star Wars references, there's not that much extra special about the set. A plastic molded tray holds the money and that's it. But it is cool to look in the middle of the game board and see the limited edition number stamped prominently in there.

In all, great for a Star Wars fan but it would have been nice if it had little extras such as storage pouches for the money, cards, tokens (which get all over).

An Excellent Gift for any Child!

Recently, I purchased the Star Wars Collector Edition of Monopoly. I sat my three grand children down who had never even heard of Monopoly and explained the basics of the original game. I then asked them if they would like to play it with me, and they responded in the affirmative. But I pulled a fast one on them, I brought out the new and improved Star Wars Collector Edition of Monopoly! Now I really had their attention; I explained the rules, set up the game and we began to play. Four hours later we decided to end the game in a tie. They were completely beside them selves, and this game is a real winner.

Original Characters from Original Trilogy

I am a big fan of the Original Trilogy and this contains characters from it. Fun play and highly recommended for those who enjoy the Original Trilogy.
