does not light up

I assumed this Lightsaber would light up - but I guess for the price I should have known better. It is very sturdy and a good toy otherwise.

I like it!! Still play with it.

My son wanted a lightsaber for his birthday. I read reviews and was afraid the lightsaber would break after play. He and his friends have played rough with the lightsabers and the lightsabers are still working. My son has some problems closing them because they can get stuck but with some extra force they eventually close.

Do these things ever break?

My wife and I bought these from a chain toy store years ago. They were a few bucks each, so hard to resist. They're still going strong, with no signs of breaking. The only negative is some of the plastic on the extendable sword region has discolored, due to bending/twisting, so there are some splotchy white regions on the sword. Other than that, you can bang these on nearly anything and they hold up to much abuse.
