so much better than they used to make them...
By Bebot
I'm so jealous of the kids who will get to experience the Star Wars movies through the 3D era, because these new lightsaber toys are COOL AS HELL.

I was in the most recent Star Wars generation of kids (7-12 years old as the prequels were released) and I had several of the lightsaber toys over the years. Haha, due to the excessive use, I had to replace them once a year or so. They were so cool to have, and I'd take mine everywhere. I specifically remember traveling to Chicago with my great-aunt for a week or so when I was nine, and pretending I was a Jedi on an escort mission to Coruscant, while the Clone Wars had just begun recently, so I had to look out for droids and separatists on the way.
It was great fun running around that huge city on my own every day (my aunt worked as a realtor and was out most of the time. She left me some money for food and stuff every morning, and I would just go out on adventures in the city) and I'd take the lightsaber wherever I went.

I loved it, but I always had the complaint that the swords were too... bulky. If you can see the older 2002 models of these toys, the handles are so thick and unwieldy that it made performing all the spins, tricks, finesse and swordsmanship you see in the movies excessively difficult, and nearly impossible.

These newer ones they're making, though..? INCREDIBLE. For nostalgia's sake, I bought all of them and gave the blades a spin! They're thinner than the old ones, and don't sacrifice much in the way of durability... I'm a 172 pound P90X graduate, and I could *probably* bend the swords, but not by hitting them against another sword. These will hold up in a fight.
Handling them is great, the handles are so light. Wielding these, you can move... fast. As fast as they do in the films. I can do everything I always wanted to do; I can spin, I can flip. It really does become an extension of your arm after a minute or two, and it's awesome, quite frankly.

Aesthetically speaking, the toys look more and more like actual movie props now. You could use these to decorate your house if you wanted to. Fully collapsed, the lightsabers look pretty classy.

This 19 year old gives a perfect 10 out of 10. Buy these, lol. The acrobatics you can now accomplish should not be passed up :)

Great Double-bladed Lightsaber!
By MovieLover!
This new Darth maul Double-bladed Lightsaber is awesome!

I bought the one back in 1999 and that one sucked! Too thick and the blades broke apart when hit against other saber!

BUT THIS ONE?

PERFECT!

Skinny blade. STRONG DURABLE blades.

Just what I've been dreaming for.

Definitely worth the buy!

My son loves it but it is cheaply made
By gary
My son (5) absolutely loves this light saber but is cheaply made and easily damaged (nothing serious, mostly aesthetic damages). I'm pleased that he is so enthralled with the toy but doubt it will last very long.
