As a Display It's Great As A Clock, Not So Much
By J. Ts
The positives are easy to state: This is a beautiful clock, strongly constructed, presents a very cool looking and powerful Darth Vader. The "demo" it does with light saber sounds and blinking lights is extremely cool and can be used as the alarm sound (though it doesn't seem that the volume on it can be controlled).

So positives are:
- Beautifully made, nice to the touch. An awesome representation of Darth Vader.
- Cool sounds. The Demo sounds great.
- Radio included... (my kids were pretending that Darth Vader was singing all the songs to them using the light saber as a microphone)
- The Snooze button for the alarm is the Star Wars logo.
- You can choose to wake to a buzzer, radio, or the Darth Vader breathing and light saber sounds.

The negatives:
- Even with batteries in there, if I unplug it or change the power source (battery to AC for example) it all resets. This may be some kind of technical problem, but just seems to be the way it's made.
- To STOP the alarm, you have to push the Alarm Mode button for a few seconds. Fine for adults, but not so much for kids.
- I have to exchange ours for a working one (the Alarm Mode button doesn't work on ours) and we are even considering just returning it. This is a negative because there may be quality control problems with the electronics.
- The AC adapter gets pretty hot making me worry it might be one of those energy eating appliances.

So, the cool factor is very high - it looks and feels really good. As an ornament or conversations piece it's great. If you plan to use it as an alarm clock, there are some limitations or things that are a bit inconvenient. Although I'm considering exchanging my slightly defective one for another one, I'm also considering just returning it because of the resetting and how warm the AC adapter gets.

Quick Update: At the end of the day, this thing is so cool looking and feeling that I decided to keep it as a display and occasionally plug it in to listen to the light saber sounds. I still don't use it as a clock, but it's definitely worth keeping around, especially since I got if for a pretty good price.

Looks cool, but wasn't what I was expecting
By Ashley
Many years ago, I had a Darth Vader coin bank and I thought this would be something similar that would be a cool addition. It looks pretty neat, but it has some downsides. It doesn't come with an AC adapter, so you have to run in on batteries, which is really silly. It's a clock! It's meant to be on all the time! I was also expecting the sound to include some of Darth Vader's signature lines and maybe some light saber noises, but the only sound it makes is him breathing with some random dramatic music never heard in the movies. So if you want something that's going to be purely aesthetic and not very functional, this is it.

Very nice collectible clock
By Frank Herb
This is a very nice, well constructed collectible clock. I bought it for my son and he likes it.
It arrived, unfortunately with no instructions, and setting the time, date, and alarm is not trivial.
I was able to download a pdf of the instructions from the manufacturers web site, however, so it was only a slight irritation.
Even with the instructions, a child will have difficulty setting time, date and alarm. You will need to help.
Once set up, it works great.
